We Need a Downpour

Hosea 6:1-3

Hos 6:1  Come and let us return to Jehovah. For He has torn, and He will heal us; He has stricken, and He will bind us up.

Hos 6:2  After two days He will bring us to life; in the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight.

Hos 6:3  Then we shall know, if we follow on to know Jehovah. His going out is prepared as the morning; and He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter and former rain to the earth.

(MKJV)

John Gill wrote (Exposition of the Entire Bible)

This chapter gives an account of some who were truly penitent, and stirred up one another to return to the Lord, encouraged by his power, grace, and goodness, Hos_6:1; and of others, who had only a form of religion, were very unstable in it; regarded more the ceremonial law, and the external sacrifices of it, than the moral law; either that part of it which respects the love of the neighbour, or that which concerns the knowledge of God; and dealt treacherously with the Lord, transgressing the covenant, Hos_6:4; particularly the city of Gilead is represented as full of the workers of iniquity, and is charged with bloodshed, Hos_6:8; yea, even the priests were guilty of murder and lewdness, Hos_6:9; and Israel, or the ten tribes in general, are accused of whoredom, both corporeal and spiritual, with which they were defiled, Hos_6:10; nor was Judah clear of these crimes, and therefore a reckoning day is set for them, Hos_6:11.

Based on the lessons we covered the last two weeks let’s look at the application and how it effects on us!

What single word would you use to describe your heart?

Why?

Rate your spiritual life on a scale from parched to refreshed.

Is the word Revival in the Bible?

The writer of this series defines revival as renewed interest after a period of indifference or decline. Revival is getting back on the path, getting the goal in view again, and pursuing with new passion the One who can make our life more!!

Main Entry: re·viv·al Function: noun Date: 1651

1: an act or instance of reviving : the state of being revived: as a: renewed attention to or interest in something b: a new presentation or publication of something old c (1): a period of renewed religious interest (2): an often highly emotional evangelistic meeting or series of meetings 2: restoration of force, validity, or effect (as to a contract)

1st things 1st – You can’t be RE-VIVED unless you have been VIVED!

Sometime this week put your conversion experience on paper in less than 2 paragraphs. If you have a problem putting to paper your transformation from death to life call me, Mike, Jack, email, text, what ever it takes. We have to do business with Jesus before we can do anything else. Just remember the prrof of salvation is in the shadow of the cross, if there isn’t a time it’s shadow feel over you maybe you need to kneel before it and see you place in Grace!

Hos 6:1

(ASV)  Come, and let us return unto Jehovah; for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

(BBE)  Come, let us go back to the Lord; for he has given us wounds and he will make us well; he has given blows and he will give help.

(DRB)  In their affliction they will rise early to me: Come, and let us return to the Lord.

(ESV)  “Come, let us return to the LORD; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.

Is God dealing with you today?

God can only use broken people for his kingdom – how is he breaking you?

There are several prayers printed in the lesson and some great personalized scriptures to pray back to God. If true spiritual growth and revival is your passion. The one place to meet god every day is his word!

How can we in this class impact the church? The City? The State? The Country? The world?
